Culture and Landscapes in Border Regions
17 June 2025
13:00
Zoom Meeting

Details

The seminar will be an interactive, research-based, and forward-looking exercise around scenarios on cross-border cooperation, decision-making, and cultural preservation in the context of landscape conservation and heritage policies in the EU. Building on the Council of Europe Landscape Convention (2000), which highlights the need for sustainable management of landscapes across borders, the session will revolve around strategies for preserving culturally significant landscapes.

The seminar will also consider the implications of the EU’s Green Deal and the UN-EU Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context.

The results will be used to form and adapt policy recommendations coming out of a European Union Horizon Europe research project on border regions (details below). The seminar will be conducted in English and is open to interested stakeholders across Europe

About the B-SHAPES Project

The research project B-shapes: Borders shaping European Societies focuses on the role of borders in shaping perceptions of European societies in the 21st century, particularly in the context of re-bordering challenges in Europe. The project examines how borders influence our perceptions of societies, culture, heritage, and belonging.
